While the fish is available year-round, its origin will vary depending on the season and local regulations. Striped bass are constantly swimming up and down the East Coast, and to ensure a consistent supply of the freshest catch, we work with seafood vendors in various states throughout the Northeast.
Every state has its own specific regulations regarding striped bass harvesting, including sizing limits. For example, while Massachusetts regulations ensure that the striped bass caught here are typically 20 lbs or more, Maryland often allows for the harvesting of smaller sized stripers (around 5 to 8 pounds).
We bring in stripers year-round from these different states, but our commitment to quality remains the same.
Massachusetts striped bass season kicks off in June and ends in July/August.
