1. Prep the Fish
- Thaw Haddock: Thaw the frozen haddock overnight in the refrigerator, or place the sealed vacuum bag in a bowl of cold water for 20–30 minutes until fully thawed.
- Pat Dry: Remove the haddock from the packaging and thoroughly pat dry with paper towels. (Removing excess surface moisture is key to getting a crispy crust!)
2. Prepare the Fries
- Air Fryer (Recommended): Pre-heat to 400°F. Arrange fries in a single layer and cook for 12–15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until golden and crispy.
- Oven Bake: Pre-heat to 425°F. Spread fries evenly on a baking sheet and bake for 18–22 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Deep Fry: Fry at 350°F for 3–5 minutes until light golden brown and crisp. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate and season immediately with sea salt.
3. Coat & Fry the Haddock
Deep Fry Method (Classic Pub Style):
- Heat oil in a deep fryer to 350°F–375°F (use a neutral oil, like vegetable, canola, or peanut oil).
- Pour the Intershell Seafood Breading into a shallow bowl or plate.
- Dredge each piece of damp haddock in the breading, pressing gently so it sticks evenly. Shake off any excess.
- Carefully lower the fish into the hot oil. Fry for 4–5 minutes until the crust is a deep golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 145°F (fish should flake easily with a fork).
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on a wire rack or paper towels.
Pan-Fry Method:
- Heat about ½ inch of oil in a heavy skillet or cast-iron pan over medium-high heat (350°F).
- Dredge the haddock in the breading as instructed above.
- Carefully place fish into the hot pan. Fry for 3–4 minutes per side, flipping once, until both sides are golden brown and crispy.
4. Serve & Enjoy
Serve immediately alongside hot fries, lemon wedges, and fresh tartar sauce or malt vinegar!
Frozen items are shipped with dry ice to ensure the arrive fully frozen. Please place them directly into your freezer upon arrival.
If you order fresh and frozen items together, we package your shipment using gel ice packs instead of dry ice to protect your fresh goods. As a result, frozen items may partially thaw during transit. You can safely place them straight back into your freezer, or allow them to finish defrosting and enjoy right away.
Defrosting Guidelines
- Overnight in the Fridge: Small packs take 6–12 hours; large packs take 12–48 hours.
- Cold Water Bowl: Submerge sealed items in cold water for a faster thaw.
- Note: Do not use hot water or attempt to thaw by cooking, as this ruins the natural texture and flavor.
