Live lobsters can be enjoyed and eaten year-round, all lobsters are harvested according to regional schedules. Because each harvesting area enforces its own sizing regulations and catch limitations, extra-large lobsters (7 lbs & over) may not always be available depending on the season.

Standard Sizes (2 lb – 8 lb): Readily available & always stocked, though larger sizes within this range sell fast.
- Giant Sizes (8 lb – 12 lb): Due to the rare nature of these oceanic giants, we encourage you to email us at info@intershellseafood.com before placing your order so we can verify our inventory.
- Special Events & Pre-Orders: If you are planning for a special event, please reach out to us no more than 1 week in advance. Because live ocean catch fluctuates daily, we cannot guarantee or verify stock weeks or months in advance.
- Out of Stock Protocol: If you place an order with a requested delivery date and your chosen size is unavailable in our inventory at the time of packing, we will automatically select the largest size available, revise your order, and refund you the price difference.
For a perfectly cooked lobster, we recommend using a thermometer to read the internal temperature. The cooking times can vary depending on the size of the lobster and/or your preferred cooking method. The internal temperature should be 135°F to 145°F (57°C to 63°C) in the thickest part of the tail to be fully cooked.
For step by step instructions, please visit our articles for more information.
Our live crustaceans (lobster and crabs) ship Priority Overnight to ensure maximum freshness and vitality upon delivery. Crustaceans are packed in insulated containers with gel ice packs and covered with damp salt paper to keep them cold and hydrated.
For lobster orders of 12 pieces or more, we ship them in dedicated heavy-duty styrofoam boxes featuring individual cardboard divider cells and a damp salt paper topper for safe transport.
Storage & Care: Upon arrival, transfer your live lobsters and/or crabs immediately to your refrigerator. Keep the original damp salt paper laid over top of them to retain moisture. Do not submerge them in fresh water or store them in airtight containers.

Intershell is the greates find! Reliable delivery, great selection, quality seafood. I would use no one else for seafood at fair prices.
Intershell Seafood was an absolute magnificent find online! The lobster came safely and perfectly packaged, it was a a great surprise to be able to find the big guys in MA. The steamed clams had a buying choice of large or small and again safely packaged and very few broken clams being soft shelled is rare. The website was easy and efficient to navigate and communication throughout the order, shipping, and arrival was flawles. Last but certainly not least were the people, one young lady in particular who called to discuss the shipping. She was friendly and fun to speak with, the whole experience shouted. "buy again!" Thank you!
