Live Northern Moon Snail
Live Northern Moon Snail
Northern Moon Snail is a species of Large sea snail in the family Naticidai; it is a bi-catch product of our North Atlantic Surf Clam and is found in shallow water with sandy bottoms, making it rarely seen on a normal everyday basis. Moon Snails either can be a beautiful brown, beige, white, or have a purple coloring to them. Cooking and preparing moon snail is like preparing any other conch; it is not a typical dish you hear about, and it is very delicious when it is boiled and served.
When cooking live moon snail, you want to boil the snail in water for 40 minutes. Once finished, remove the meat from its shell by using a fork. Give it a thorough rinse to remove the as much sand as possible. The meat should be sliced very thin and served cold as a conch salad in any way you wish to prepare it.
